About the Role: Cook I

W Hotels is seeking a dedicated Cook I to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to preparing special meals and substitutes, managing food records, and ensuring food quality according to established standards. The Cook I will also provide essential support to management in various employee-related tasks and is expected to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

Key Culinary Responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitutes as required.
• Adjust temperatures for cooking equipment, including ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Remove food from the freezer and thaw it appropriately in the refrigerator.
• Portion and plate food items correctly according to established standards.
• Manage and maintain accurate food records.
• Monitor the quality and quantity of all prepared food.
• Cook according to specified recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and cooking checklists.
• Prepare cold food items.

Operational Support and Professional Conduct

• Provide necessary support during busy periods to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicate leftover ingredients to the chef for daily menu planning and utilization.
• Inform food service staff about special menus and any out-of-stock items.
• Assist management with various employee-related tasks, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching, serving as a role model.
• Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures.
• Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
• Anticipate and address guests' service needs, communicating clearly and professionally.
• Listen to and appropriately respond to concerns from other employees, ensuring adherence to quality and service standards.

Physical Demands of the Role

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Degree from a technical, trade, or vocational school.
• Related Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
• Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this role.
• License or Certification: None specified.

Work Environment and Expectations

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be expected to perform all duties as outlined and other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors, contributing to the high standards of W Hotels.
