Data Engineer

About the Role

Starways is seeking a Data Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is for a government digital project within the real estate sector, which heavily relies on data and artificial intelligence. The role requires 5-10 years of experience.

Role Context

The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the data infrastructure necessary for the project. This includes creating robust data pipelines and ensuring the reliability and performance of data systems, contributing to a critical government initiative.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build comprehensive data infrastructure.
• Create data pipelines to collect data from government platforms and spatial data sources.
• Ensure the availability and reliability of data systems.
• Optimize query performance across various data platforms.
• Document data engineering processes and data flow diagrams.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related specialization.
• At least 5 years of experience in designing and operating big data infrastructures.
• Proven experience in government projects.
• Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools such as Apache Airflow, Talend, or Azure Data Factory.
• Experience in building data pipelines and data processing platforms.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and cloud solutions.

Additional Requirements

• Native Arabic speaker.
• Must reside in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (national ID or valid iqama required).

Work Environment

This position is based on-site in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is a full-time role within the Starways team dedicated to a significant government digital project.
