About the Role

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is seeking a Data Protection and Privacy Director to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves overseeing the proper implementation of data privacy and protection strategies, ensuring compliance with evolving privacy laws, rules, and NDMO requirements, and directing the development and update of ZATCA’s data policies, standards, and procedures.

Purpose of the Position

The Data Protection and Privacy Director is responsible for monitoring the continuous enhancement of data privacy and protection within ZATCA. This includes following up on plan implementation and ensuring that all data-related activities align with best practices and regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the Data Management Office business plan, ensuring alignment with ZATCA's overall strategy.
  • Develop and implement the operational plan for Data Protection and Privacy in line with strategic objectives.
  • Discuss budgeting requirements with top management and ensure effective utilization of the Data Protection and Privacy budget.
  • Monitor the latest developments in data privacy and protection to integrate international best practices into daily operations.
  • Develop the Data Protection and Privacy strategy in line with updates in Kingdom privacy laws and NDMO requirements.
  • Direct the development of data privacy and protection policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring alignment with ZATCA’s strategy.
  • Review and approve data privacy and protection plans to enhance the security of ZATCA’s sensitive data and information access.
  • Promote a culture of data privacy awareness by reviewing and validating awareness programs.
  • Follow up on the implementation of data privacy and protection plans and intervene as needed for issue resolution.
  • Supervise the implementation of improvement action plans to enhance data privacy and protection.
  • Review and approve developed reports and data assessments to track compliance levels with data standards and policies.

People Management

  • Participate in the identification and recruitment of key talent.
  • Guide, mentor, and support direct reports in executing duties according to established policies and processes.
  • Develop individual performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate team performance, and offer regular feedback.
  • Establish a high-performance working environment and promote ZATCA values.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data and systems used across an organization to devise control metrics.
  • Proven ability to integrate and implement international best practices in data privacy and protection.

This position is based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
