About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking an EHS Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is ideal for professionals with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on establishing and maintaining robust Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards across construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare all EHS-related documents, including EHS plans, emergency response plans, and risk assessments.
  • Attend EHS meetings with clients and project teams, reporting all EHS issues to the Head Office.
  • Provide EHS induction training to new workers and conduct daily EHS inspections for assigned zones.
  • Ensure appropriate safe work permits are obtained by Engineers/Supervisors from Clients/Main Contractors.
  • Conduct site-wide risk assessments, informing Site Engineers and/or Clients/Main Contractors of high-risk areas.
  • Ensure toolbox talks are delivered weekly by Engineers to promote EHS awareness among workers.
  • Verify that all personnel wear required personal protective equipment, including helmets, EHS shoes, and coveralls.
  • Confirm that equipment such as ladders and scaffolding are in good working condition before use.
  • Ensure satisfactory health and hygiene conditions for workers, including water availability, rest areas, and adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping on project sites to prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Conduct Job EHS Analysis on high-risk activities to minimize hazardous conditions and encourage EHS practices among workers and engineers.
  • Investigate minor or major incidents/accidents with engineers and communicate results for future precautions.
  • Administer first-aid or seek medical assistance in case of worker injury.
  • Maintain all documentation related to EHS activities.
  • Establish, monitor, appraise, and coordinate an upgraded integrated health, safety, and environment management system (conforming to ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards) for construction projects, improvising procedure manuals and internal audits.
  • Conduct EHS training programs for engineers and workers on-site and participate in HR-organized EHS training.
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessment for critical activities, ensuring method statements incorporate findings.
  • Prepare EHS Plans and Environment Management Plans.
  • Coordinate external EHS audits and third-party inspections of equipment.
  • Prepare Emergency Preparedness Plans and conduct emergency drills.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Work Permit System.
  • Coordinate occupational health and welfare measures.
  • Prepare EHS conditions of contract for sub-contractors.
  • Stop work in cases of unsafe practices and promote a proactive commitment to action.
  • Carry out project Risk Management Audits monthly and system audits quarterly.
  • Provide EHS reports to project and IC heads to inform them of current EHS performance status.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 0-1 years of experience in an EHS role.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Familiarity with ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards is preferred.
