About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking an experienced EHS Officer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves managing and implementing comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety protocols across construction projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and fostering a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare all EHS-related documents, including EHS plans, emergency response plans, and risk assessments.
Attend EHS meetings with clients and project teams, reporting all EHS issues to the Head Office.
Provide EHS induction training to new workers and conduct daily EHS inspections for assigned zones.
Ensure appropriate safe work permits are obtained by Engineers/Supervisors from Clients/Main Contractors.
Conduct site-wide risk assessments, informing Site Engineers and/or Clients/Main Contractors of high-risk areas.
Ensure regular toolbox talks are delivered by Engineers to promote EHS awareness among workers.
Verify that all personnel wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including helmets, EHS shoes, and coveralls.
Inspect equipment such as ladders and scaffolding to ensure they are in good working condition before use.
Maintain satisfactory health and hygiene conditions for workers, including access to water, rest areas, adequate lighting, and ventilation.
Ensure proper housekeeping on project sites to prevent incidents and accidents.
Conduct Job EHS Analysis for high-risk activities to minimize hazardous conditions.
Encourage workers and engineers to implement EHS best practices.
Investigate minor and major incidents/accidents with engineers and communicate findings for future precautions.
Administer first-aid or seek medical assistance for worker injuries.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of all EHS activities.

EHS Management and Compliance

Establish, monitor, appraise, and coordinate an integrated health, safety, and environment management system conforming to ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards for construction projects.
Improvise procedure manuals and conduct internal audits based on these standards.
Conduct EHS training programs for engineers and workers on-site, as well as participate in HR-organized EHS training.
Perform hazard identification and risk assessment for critical activities, ensuring method statements incorporate findings.
Prepare EHS Plans and Environment Management Plans.
Coordinate external EHS audits and third-party inspections of equipment.
Prepare Emergency Preparedness Plans and conduct emergency drills.
Facilitate the implementation of the Work Permit System.
Coordinate occupational health and welfare measures.
Prepare EHS conditions of contract for sub-contractors.
Stop work immediately if unsafe practices are observed, promoting a proactive "don't walk by" attitude and commitment to action.
Carry out monthly project Risk Management Audits and quarterly system audits.
Provide EHS reports to the project head and IC Head to inform them of current EHS performance status.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably within the construction industry.
Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards is required.
Strong understanding of EHS best practices, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
