About the Role

alfanar is seeking a qualified ENGINEER, QA / QC CIVIL to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and focuses on performing project civil Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities efficiently and to established standards.

Role Objectives and Responsibilities

The primary objective of this role is to ensure project civil works adhere to defined policies, procedures, and quality standards, contributing to departmental operational plans. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the Quality Management System (QMS) and coordinating project quality inspections with clients, consultants, and vendors.
  • Maintaining system manuals, international and national standards, client specifications, technical data sheets, and relevant inspection documents.
  • Verifying vendor accreditations, certifications, and profiles.
  • Maintaining quality records, including work logs, QA/QC weekly reports, internal inspection reports, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Preparing quality-related documents such as Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements (MOS), and checklists.
  • Implementing the ALFANAR LESSON LEARNT PROGRAM to minimize punch points during project handover.

Monitoring and Inspection Duties

This role involves diligent monitoring and inspection to ensure project compliance and quality. Specific duties include:

  • Ensuring works are executed according to Project Technical Specifications (PTS), Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings, and approved method statements.
  • Confirming that work is correctly prepared before inspection and that inspections are conducted at required stages as per ITPs or client requirements.
  • Verifying that all materials and equipment comply with contract plans, PTS, and standards.
  • Ensuring required tests are performed and verifying their compliance.
  • Conducting site installation and material receiving inspections, reporting findings to the concerned authority.
  • Controlling and monitoring inspection and test requirements against project PTS.
  • Assuring the maintenance and calibration of inspection and testing equipment.
  • Preparing checklists and Requests for Information (RFIs) for consultant approval and inspections.

Coordination and Reporting

Effective coordination and reporting are crucial for this position. The role requires:

  • Coordinating with the Execution Team, Project Management, Client, and Consultant on QC-related matters.
  • Liaising with independent testing laboratories for material testing, following up on reports, and submitting them to the consultant.
  • Reporting quality-related matters to the Project Manager for action and to the TQM Manager for information.
  • Obtaining, verifying, and maintaining quality records in a traceable and retrievable manner.
  • Verifying test results and providing recommendations to the Project Manager.

Professional Accountability and Development

This role involves leadership and accountability for team performance and project delivery. Key aspects include:

  • Providing training, leadership, coaching, and direction to subordinates.
  • Delegating tasks effectively to ensure efficient work achievement and maintain team morale.
  • Performing planned activities to meet operational and development targets within efficient cost and timeframes.
  • Resolving related problems and escalating complex operational issues.
  • Ensuring quality requirements are met through effective control processes and specifications.
  • Coordinating written systems, policies, and procedures, and identifying automation opportunities.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures.
