The ETL Engineer Role

Exequt is seeking a Full-time ETL Engineer to build and maintain the data pipelines supporting our analytics and data platform initiatives. This role involves end-to-end ownership of ETL workflows, encompassing extraction strategies, transformation logic, monitoring, and optimization. The ETL Engineer will work within a big data stack and collaborate directly with business teams to translate requirements into functional data pipelines. The position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, optimize, and maintain the full ETL lifecycle.
• Define data extraction strategies, cleansing rules, and transformation logic based on business requirements.
• Write complex SQL for querying, statistical analysis, and query optimization to enhance processing efficiency.
• Build and automate ETL workflows using Python, Java, and Shell.
• Contribute to the design, modeling, and maintenance of Hive-based data warehouses, applying layering concepts (ODS, DWD, DWS, ADS) and optimizing storage structures.
• Integrate and maintain Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and related big data technologies within ETL workflows.
• Monitor ETL jobs, configure alerts, troubleshoot failures, and resolve data latency and consistency issues.
• Establish and continuously improve ETL operations and maintenance standards.
• Partner with business teams on requirement analysis, solution design, implementation, data validation, and data quality initiatives.
• Keep current with new tools and techniques and integrate them into the data pipeline.

Core Experience and Skills

• 2–3 years of hands-on ETL or data engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex queries and query optimization.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting scheduled data jobs.

Technical Proficiencies

• Programming experience in at least one of Python, Java, or Shell, with working knowledge of the others.
• Experience with Hive and an understanding of data warehouse layering concepts (ODS, DWD, DWS, ADS).
• Exposure to Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka in a production or project setting.

Location and Language Requirements

This role involves delivery on international projects, including those within Saudi Arabia. Professional English, both written and spoken, is essential for technical documentation, progress updates, and client-facing solution presentations. Candidates must be currently based in or willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia.
