About the Role: Head of Engineering

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Head of Engineering to join its Transportation Project Delivery team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading the technical delivery of a multi-disciplinary transportation project. The Head of Engineering will be responsible for the Design and Engineering Management on the PMCM Services for the delivery of an iconic Metro Station in Riyadh, collaborating across all stages of the project lifecycle with the Construction supervision team and in close coordination with the Design & Build (D&B) Contractor from early stages until project handover.

Core Responsibilities

• Act as the PMCM representative for the Project's Design and Engineering, accountable for the development and assurance of the design and engineering brief.
• Oversee the capture, management, and compliance of client technical requirements and processes for design and technical assurance activities.
• Lead the review of design submissions by the D&B Contractor for adequate compliance with technical requirements and client vision.
• Oversee the application of design requirements and standards, ensuring engineering governance and excellence are applied in PMCM Services delivery.
• Assure the Contractor implements robust procedures and working methodologies for providing technical assurance to their works.
• Actively manage the Engineering Budget and Programme to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.

Project Leadership and Oversight

• Provide technical leadership across all project stages, defining and implementing clear goals, priorities, detailed plans, and practical engineering governance within the team.
• Oversee the performance of the D&B Contractor in the design and engineering area to create an innovative, safe, value-for-money, integrated solution.
• Provide constructive and practical advisory to the Project Director and Client representatives for successful project delivery.
• Coordinate with project functions, including Construction supervision, Contracts and Commercial Management, QA/QC, and HSE, ensuring defined goals and objectives are achieved.

Team Management and Collaboration

• Foster the integration of design and engineering disciplines and functions, leading cross-functional integration.
• Monitor the performance of the Engineering team, implementing continuous learning and improvement in organizational operability.
• Hire, onboard, lead, mentor, and evaluate the performance of engineers and technical staff responsible for engineering management and design review, creating a cohesive design and engineering team.
• Build and maintain close working relationships with the client and most relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure successful coordination of cross-technical disciplines and technical interfaces.
• Promote a culture of proactive anticipation of technical problems and practical thinking for problem-solving.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in engineering leadership and design management, preferably within large-scale transportation infrastructure projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and people management skills to effectively guide the engineering team. Experience in PMCM Services and coordination with Design & Build Contractors is essential.
