Horticultural Training Officer

About the Role

Eram Talent is seeking a Horticultural Training Officer for a contract position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on developing, coordinating, and delivering horticultural training programs to enhance the knowledge, practical skills, and professional capabilities of staff within the Botanic Gardens. The officer will ensure horticultural teams are equipped with current techniques and best practices in various aspects of plant care and garden management.

Role Purpose and Context

The Horticultural Training Officer will assess training needs, develop comprehensive training materials, conduct practical demonstrations and workshops, and evaluate training effectiveness. This ensures continuous improvement in horticultural standards. The position also supports the implementation of horticultural best practices, promotes environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation, and provides guidance on plant collections, nursery operations, and landscape management. The role contributes to knowledge sharing, staff development, and educational initiatives that align with the Botanic Gardens' conservation, research, and visitor engagement objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive horticulture training programs for staff and volunteers.
• Assess horticulture training needs and identify skills gaps across garden operations.
• Develop structured training plans aligned with operational requirements, horticulture standards, and organizational objectives.
• Deliver theoretical and practical training covering relevant horticulture practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Develop training materials, manuals, guidelines, presentations, practical demonstrations, and other educational resources covering horticulture best practices.
• Ensure training materials remain technically accurate, relevant, accessible, and aligned with current horticultural standards.
• Develop appropriate competency assessments and methods for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
• Maintain records of staff participation, training completion, competency development, and certification where applicable.
• Coordinate internship, apprenticeship, and work-based learning opportunities within the Botanic Gardens.

Required Skills and Expertise

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in plant care, propagation, soil management, pest and disease control, landscape maintenance, and sustainable gardening. Strong capabilities in developing and delivering educational content, conducting assessments, and evaluating program effectiveness are essential. The role requires a commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation.

This contract position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the Botanic Gardens. The role involves working closely with horticultural teams and contributing to the overall educational and conservation objectives of the gardens.
