The Opportunity: Lead Architect (PMC), Metro

SYSTRA is seeking a Lead Architect (PMC) for a major metro project in Riyadh, with a specific focus on station architecture. This full-time role involves overseeing architectural aspects from design through construction within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) scope. The position requires strong experience in design review, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery in complex transportation environments. This opportunity is part of a bid submission and is contingent upon project award and client approval.

Role Responsibilities

The Lead Architect will lead the architectural review and coordination function for metro stations and associated facilities within the PMC scope. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading architectural review and coordination for metro station projects.
• Reviewing architectural designs, drawings, specifications, reports, and material submissions for compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Overseeing architectural coordination with structural, civil, MEP, urban design, and specialist systems teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Monitoring design development and construction progress of architectural works across stations and associated assets.
• Supporting the client and PMC leadership in architectural decision-making, technical reviews, and design quality assurance.
• Reviewing contractor and consultant submissions, including shop drawings, method statements, mock-ups, and material samples.
• Identifying design issues, coordination clashes, technical risks, and constructability concerns, and supporting timely resolution.
• Participating in design review workshops, technical meetings, and stakeholder coordination sessions.
• Conducting site inspections and monitoring architectural works for compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality, and timelines.
• Supporting the management of RFIs, NCRs, change requests, and technical queries related to architectural scope.
• Contributing to progress reporting, technical assessments, and client-facing PMC deliverables.
• Promoting high standards of design quality, functionality, passenger experience, and operational suitability in station architecture.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess the following:

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to lead architectural review and coordination on complex metro station projects.
• Experience in maintaining design quality while supporting practical and efficient project delivery within a PMC environment.
• Experience in high-profile or iconic developments is an advantage.
