About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a Pharmacist II to join their team. This full-time position involves verifying medication orders, dispensing medications, and providing patient counseling. The role requires 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.

Role Summary

The Pharmacist II is responsible for ensuring the accurate and safe preparation and dispensing of medications. This includes the compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications, such as anti-neoplastic agents, in strict adherence to accepted standards and established pharmacy policies and procedures. The role is integral to patient care and medication management within the hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, filling, compounding, and dispensing of sterile and non-sterile medications relevant to the area of practice.
• Review and evaluate medication orders for demographic data, appropriateness of therapy, dose, frequency, route, dosage form, interactions, allergies, related laboratory values, and potential drug interactions.
• Advise and counsel patients, answering questions about medications, including indications, possible side effects, and interactions among different drugs.
• Document interventions and recommendations/clarifications in the electronic Health Information System.
• Maintain control and security of all medications, including controlled and narcotic substances, and supplies, ensuring dispensing and record-keeping comply with approved policies and regulations.
• Assist and guide healthcare providers with issues related to medication management and use systems, providing drug information on selection, dosage, interactions, monitoring, and side effects.
• Precept, check, and monitor medication-related activities and performance of new pharmacists, residents, trainees, and students with guidance from senior pharmacists.
• Participate in and assist with conducting performance and quality improvement projects.
• Adhere to all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
• Participate in self and others' education, training, and development.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience is required for this position.
• Demonstrated ability to verify medication orders and dispense medications accurately.
• Proficiency in patient counseling regarding medication use and potential interactions.
• Experience in compounding sterile and non-sterile medications, including anti-neoplastic agents.
