The Role: Power System Optimization Engineer

SPPC is seeking a Power System Optimization Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves critical work in developing and analyzing energy allocation plans, performing detailed power system modeling, and providing essential support for operational and planning decisions. The primary objective of this role is to contribute to the continuous enhancement of system efficiency and reliability.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, and review monthly and annual energy allocation plans, considering system capabilities, generation availability, and operational constraints.
• Perform short and medium-term power system modeling and scenario analysis to support operational and planning decisions.
• Support economic dispatch and operational merit-order analysis of generation units to enhance overall system efficiency.
• Prepare and analyze Short Run Marginal Cost (SRMC) studies and support their application in operational and economic assessments.
• Monitor planned and unplanned generation outages and assess the impact of maintenance programs on system reliability and availability.
• Analyze load, generation, fuel, and renewable energy data, and derive key operational and performance indicators.
• Assess the integration and operational performance of renewable energy resources and their impact on system reliability and flexibility.
• Utilize power system simulation and optimization tools to support planning, operational analysis, and decision-making processes.
• Prepare technical reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate analysis results clearly and effectively.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data consistency, integration, and alignment of technical inputs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience Level

Candidates for this position are expected to have between 2 to 5 years of experience in a related field. This range ensures a foundational understanding combined with practical application in power system optimization.
