Project Engineer Civil (Substation)

About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Project Engineer Civil (Substation) to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is integral to the successful execution of civil engineering components within large-scale power infrastructure projects. The role requires 5-10 years of experience in civil engineering, specifically within the substation domain.

Role Overview

The Project Engineer Civil (Substation) will be responsible for the comprehensive management, supervision, and successful execution of civil works in 380 kV substation projects (HV/MV). This includes ensuring all activities are conducted in strict compliance with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) standards, contractual requirements, and established safety and quality guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, monitor, and control all civil construction activities at the substation site, including foundations, control building, cable trenches, equipment foundations, roads, and fencing.
• Ensure all works are executed in compliance with SEC standards, approved drawings, and specifications.
• Review civil designs, drawings, and shop drawings, coordinating with engineering consultants and contractors for necessary approvals.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders, including SEC representatives, consultants, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure timely project progress.
• Plan and schedule civil construction activities to meet project timelines and milestones.
• Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, conduct inspections, and ensure adherence to project QA/QC requirements.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards at the project site.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation such as daily progress reports, inspection requests, and material approvals.
• Assist in resolving technical issues, variations, and claims related to civil works.
• Support the Project Manager in progress meetings and provide input on civil work status and challenges.
• Ensure timely completion and handover of civil works to enable the installation of electrical equipment and overall substation commissioning.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on substation projects.
• Proven experience in EPC Substation Projects within Saudi Arabia.
• Exposure to projects involving SEC, National Grid SA, or other major utility companies.
• A strong track record in delivering substation civil works safely, within budget, and on schedule.
• Immediate availability with SEC approval or a transferable iqama is considered an advantage.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on critical infrastructure projects within the region.
