About the Role

Consolidated Grunenfelder Saady Holding Co. is seeking a Project Supervisor for full-time refrigeration projects in Riyadh. This role involves overseeing the technical execution of various refrigeration systems, ensuring projects are completed to high standards of safety and quality. The position requires 5-10 years of experience in relevant refrigeration project supervision.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Supervisor is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of refrigeration projects from installation through to commissioning and maintenance. This includes managing cold storage, food processing, pharmaceutical cooling, and industrial refrigeration systems. The role demands hands-on supervision of technicians and subcontractors, with a strong focus on adhering to safety standards, project timelines, and quality control protocols.

Technical Project Execution

• Supervise the installation of ammonia (NH3) and Freon (R134a, R404a, R507) refrigeration systems, including piping layout, welding, brazing, and insulation.
• Monitor the proper mounting and connection of compressors, evaporators, condensers, and expansion valves, ensuring alignment and vibration testing.
• Lead the installation of high and low-pressure refrigerant piping systems, including suction, discharge, liquid, and hot gas defrost lines.
• Oversee oil return systems for large-scale ammonia refrigeration and secondary cooling loops (glycol/brine-based systems).
• Manage the installation of cold room panels, pressure relief vents, air circulation units, air curtains, strip doors, and pressure equalization vents.
• Oversee the installation of control panels, electrical wiring, and automation systems for refrigeration plants, including PLC-based controllers (Danfoss, CAREL, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
• Verify electrical load balancing, circuit breaker settings, motor startup sequencing, and the installation and calibration of temperature probes, pressure transducers, and humidity sensors.
• Manage SCADA system integration for remote refrigeration plant monitoring.

Safety, Quality, and Team Supervision

• Ensure compliance with Saudi Civil Defense safety regulations and oversee the installation of ammonia leak detection systems, emergency shutoff valves, and explosion-proof electrical components.
• Conduct safety drills and emergency response training for technicians, along with toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Assign daily tasks and monitor the performance of welders, pipefitters, electricians, and HVAC technicians.
• Verify that all work aligns with engineering drawings, P&IDs, and project specifications.
• Report project progress, site issues, and material shortages to the project manager.

System Commissioning and Client Handover

• Conduct pressure testing and leak detection using nitrogen and electronic leak detectors.
• Ensure proper vacuuming, dehydration, and refrigerant charging for new systems.
• Oversee the start-up and initial operation of refrigeration systems, performing functional tests on components and defrost cycles.
• Perform air balancing and system fine-tuning to ensure proper temperature control, valve adjustments, and superheat settings for optimal system performance.
• Hand over fully tested and documented refrigeration systems to end-users and provide training to client maintenance teams on system operation and troubleshooting.

Qualifications and Essential Skills

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in supervising refrigeration projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in overseeing electrical and control systems for refrigeration plants.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement ammonia leak prevention measures.
• Effective communication skills for internal teams (Project, Procurement, Store, Sales) and external stakeholders (Client/Consultant, Vendors, Subcontractors, Regulatory Authorities).
• Must possess a valid driving license and be willing to travel as required.
• Familiarity with local authority approval processes for industrial refrigeration projects.
