About Mace and the Role

Mace, a company that integrates construction expertise with consultancy, is seeking a Senior Design Manager Infrastructure. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and offers the opportunity to contribute to one of the largest development programmes in the region. The role focuses on leading integrated design teams through various project phases.

Project Context

The programme in Saudi Arabia involves a major mixed-use development that includes sports facilities, entertainment venues, arts complexes, and all associated infrastructure. As a key delivery partner, Mace requires experienced professionals to manage and lead design efforts, ensuring alignment with project objectives and high standards of execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the design team by setting objectives, managing performance, and fostering a high-performing culture aligned with organizational values and safety requirements.
• Oversee design progress reporting, analytics, and risk management, identifying issues and implementing mitigation and value engineering strategies.
• Direct technical design reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements, design briefs, systems engineering, BIM, GIS, innovation, and relevant standards.
• Manage the design process from concept through construction documentation, coordinating consultants and ensuring alignment with project objectives and ways of working.
• Ensure all designs are fit for purpose, incorporating Safety in Design principles, quality assurance processes, regulatory compliance, and design sign-off requirements.
• Lead interface coordination among internal and external stakeholders to proactively manage impacts on project schedules, budgets, quality, and delivery outcomes.
• Ensure design development aligns with approved cost plans, business objectives, operational requirements, and change management procedures, including assessment of design changes.
• Oversee the development of design and engineering Work Breakdown Structures and ensure deliverables support procurement, construction staging, project phasing, and successful project execution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• 12–15+ years of experience in multi-disciplinary design management on large, complex developments.
• Proven experience acting as a senior technical lead and managing multiple consultants and infrastructure packages.

Essential Skills

• Strong experience in design governance and assurance.
• Demonstrated ability in complex interface management.
• Leadership skills for developing and guiding design teams.
