The Role of Senior Dry Utilities Engineer

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Dry Utilities Engineer to join its Land Development team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves supporting the design and delivery of power, telecommunications, and street lighting infrastructure for major master-planning and land development projects across the Kingdom. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to provide utility solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare designs and calculations in accordance with utility authority standards.
Conduct electrical load calculations, develop load and LV schedules, and perform voltage drop and cable de-rating calculations.
Design and review HV, MV, and LV networks, including single line diagrams and layouts for infrastructure projects.
Develop telecommunication infrastructure network designs, including layouts and coverage drawings, with knowledge of GSM coverage requirements.
Design street lighting networks, including single line diagrams, layouts, voltage drop calculations, and lighting for tunnels/underpasses.
Perform lux calculations for street lighting using DiaLux software.
Identify optimal solutions for design-related issues from internal and external sources.
Maintain ownership of electrical engineering analysis and design.
Inspect on-site works to monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
Ensure all design work adheres to Company quality standard procedures.
Review drawings, reports, specifications, and materials at each design/construction stage for completeness, correctness, and compliance with scope and agreement requirements.
Present technical aspects of projects and electrical design approaches to technical and non-technical teams and stakeholders.
Produce written reports for various project lifecycle stages, including methodologies, case studies, and proposal support information.
Conduct technical reviews on progress and provide design updates to project design managers, project managers, and clients as required.
Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, including knowledge sharing and lessons learned.
Demonstrate safe, ethical, and inclusive behaviors consistent with Mott MacDonald values.

Required Qualifications and Experience

5-10 years of relevant experience in dry utilities engineering.
Strong understanding of general engineering principles.
Strong understanding of general project management principles.
