We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a full-time position. This role is crucial for our client engagements, specifically within Test Management Enablement & Automation initiatives.

Role Overview

The Senior Java Backend Developer will focus on building scalable microservices and APIs. This position requires strong hands-on experience with modern Java frameworks such as Spring Boot or Quarkus, coupled with proficiency in API management using IBM API Connect (APIC). The successful candidate will contribute to critical technology programs, ensuring the high performance, security, and scalability of backend systems. Experience in the Open Banking domain is considered a significant advantage for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Spring Boot and/or Quarkus.
• Build, publish, and manage APIs using IBM API Connect (APIC).
• Ensure high performance, security, and scalability of backend systems and APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, QA, and DevOps.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues efficiently.
• Follow best practices for clean code, testing, and system design.
• Containerize applications using Docker and deploy on Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Implement authentication/authorization using OAuth2/JWT standards.
• Write unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize microservices performance in production.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in Java backend development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Quarkus.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with API security and performance optimization.
• Proficiency with Java 11+ specifically.
• Experience with OpenShift alongside Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD tools (*, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Working knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

• Experience in the Open Banking or financial services domain.
• Knowledge of OAuth2 and JWT authentication.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with Apache Kafka or other messaging/event-streaming platforms.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
