  • Verifying compliance with approved material standards, project specifications, technical requirements, and Client’s design guidelines.
  • Evaluating material suitability, performance, durability, maintainability, sustainability, aesthetics, and lifecycle characteristics.
  • Reviewing proposals for architectural finishes, façade systems, paving materials, hardscape elements, landscape materials, street furniture, and infrastructure-related materials.
  • Ensuring consistency with approved architectural concepts, urban design objectives, public realm strategies, and environmental conditions.
  • Assessing material compatibility with climatic conditions, operational requirements, maintenance strategies, and long-term asset performance.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary material reviews with the Design Manager, Technical Manager, Senior Urban Planning Specialist, and Program Technical Team.
  • Reviewing material-related design changes, technical deviations, and Value Engineering proposals, assessing their impact on quality, durability, sustainability, functionality, cost, maintainability, aesthetics, and lifecycle performance.
  • Assessing material testing reports, certification documentation, mock-ups, and approval submissions for compliance.
  • Preparing technical assessments, material review comments, executive summaries, and recommendations.
  • Coordinating with Lead Developers, consultants, suppliers, testing laboratories, and technical specialists to resolve material-related issues.
  • Promoting engineering excellence, innovation, sustainable material selection, continuous improvement, and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Materials Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Professional membership or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional experience in construction materials, architectural finishes, infrastructure materials, public realm developments, urban development, or major capital projects.
  • Experience within PMCM, PMC, consultancy, developer, contractor, testing laboratories, or client-side organizations, preferably on large-scale infrastructure and land development projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC.
