About National Medical Care Company (Care)

National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a Senior Registrar Obstetrics and Gynecology to join its medical team in Riyadh. This full-time position is dedicated to providing comprehensive patient care within a framework of high professional standards and ethical practice.

Position Overview

The Senior Registrar is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to both outpatient and inpatient obstetrics and gynecology patients. This role requires maintaining a high level of professional performance, strictly adhering to professional medical ethics, JCIA standards, hospital medical by-laws, and the laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Compliance with all applicable regulations, as outlined in the departmental quality plan, is essential. The Senior Registrar ensures the provision of superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient served at Riyadh Care Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage minor gynecological cases and major gynecological cases under the supervision of a consultant.
  • Perform minor procedures such as Cryosurgery, IUD insertion, D&C, and suction curettage.
  • Investigate and manage infertility cases, including ovulation induction.
  • Perform major operations under the supervision of a consultant.
  • Conduct daily ward rounds for all inpatients in the department and liaise with the consultant regarding their care.
  • Manage all low-risk obstetric cases and perform induction of labor.
  • Perform instrumental deliveries such as ventouse and forceps delivery.
  • Perform LSCS with a consultant available on-site.
  • Manage high-risk antenatal cases (*, PET, APH), postnatal cases, and post-operative cases in conjunction with a consultant.
  • Take patient history, perform physical examinations, interpret common diagnostic tests, and document patient conditions on admission sheets.
  • Seek advice or help from the consultant whenever a patient's condition requires further expertise.
  • Serve as a member of the “Code Blue” team, as directed.
  • Actively participate in the department’s on-call rota for patient care and admissions, responding to emergencies to offer medical care and advice related to the specialty.
  • Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures for patients within the field of specialty.
  • Carry out any other assignments as directed by the Head of Department within the realm of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

The Senior Registrar reports directly to the Head, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. This role involves supervising junior staff in conducting their duties and responsibilities as designated by the department. The Senior Registrar will also liaise with all physicians, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families to ensure integrated and effective patient care.

Professional Standards and Development

Candidates are required to abide by all department policies and procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations. A critical component of this role is demonstrating knowledge of and implementing the essential role in patient and family education. This includes providing health promotion and teaching through methods appropriate to a patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situations. Necessary time must be allotted to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families, with appropriate documentation in the patient medical record. The Senior Registrar will also actively participate in the department’s educational and training activities, and be involved in teaching junior staff, interns, and medical students.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience is required for this full-time Senior Registrar position.
