About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a Staff Nurse I to join its full-time nursing team. This role is central to providing comprehensive nursing care and upholding the highest standards of patient service within a leading healthcare institution.

Role Overview

The Staff Nurse I is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care by effectively utilizing the nursing process. This position requires adherence to established standards of nursing practice and performance, alongside demonstrating leadership competencies when assigned as a shift resource or team leader.

Key Patient Care Responsibilities

  • Provide total patient care as assigned, adhering to core standards, established policies, and evidence-based practices.
  • Assume accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, including discharge planning for each patient.
  • Document all relevant patient information correctly, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and families, identifying ideas to improve care quality and issues that may negatively affect patient outcomes.
  • Promote a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Comply with policies for personal and patient safety, and for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.

Operational Contributions and Quality Improvement

  • Contribute to decreasing the length of stay and waiting times, in collaboration with Case Management to achieve unit-specific goals.
  • Report equipment failures, safety and security issues, and reductions in supply inventory to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Demonstrate collaborative multi-disciplinary partnerships aimed at achieving constant improvement in quality patient care.
  • Contribute to the achievement of cost efficiency savings on the unit through awareness of resource utilization.
  • Participate in achieving clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction, leading unit-based Performance Improvement activities as assigned.

Professional Development and Practice

  • Participate in new staff and nursing student orientation, assisting in developing their competence and performance.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor in the supervision and teaching of nursing students and new staff.
  • Demonstrate transcultural principles in daily nursing practice.
  • Contribute to special projects and assignments linked to nursing strategic priorities and the professional practice model.
  • Assist in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship, aligned with relevant research and evidence-based practice.
  • Follow all Hospital-related policies and procedures and participate in self and other’s education, training, and development.

Required Qualifications and Licensure

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing is required.
  • Experience:
    • Two (2) years of nursing experience is required for candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Four (4) years of nursing experience is required for candidates holding an Associate Degree/Diploma.
    • No experience is required for Saudi nationals with a Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Enrolment in a New Graduate Development Program is required for staff with less than one (1) year of experience.
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse Licensure from the country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Licensure are both required.
