About the Role

GE Vernova is seeking a Substation Automation Commissioning Specialist to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves performing essential services and maintenance activities directly on customer sites and properties. The specialist will contribute to the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of products, encompassing preventive and remedial maintenance services, management of maintenance facilities, and field services engineering. This position is suitable for candidates with 0-1 year of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities related to the testing and validation of equipment, facilities, or plants, ensuring alignment with design objectives or specifications for operational use, including performance services and tests.
  • Execute activities related to Substation Automation System (SAS) commissioning on customer sites, from site mobilization through the completion of commissioning work, and manage related scope activities.
  • Develop conceptual knowledge within the professional discipline, which may include support roles requiring specialized expertise or technical knowledge across a broad area.
  • Apply general business knowledge gained through education or prior experience.
  • Understand how the work of the immediate team contributes to the overall area.
  • Resolve issues using established procedures, consulting supervisors or more senior team members for matters outside defined instructions or parameters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to effectively resolve issues.
  • For customer-facing aspects of the role, develop strong customer relationships and serve as the primary interface between the customer and GE Vernova.
  • Exchange technical information, ask clarifying questions, and ensure mutual understanding.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates for this role should possess 0-1 year of relevant experience. The specialist is accountable for the quality of their own work and operates under direct operational supervision, prescribed work instructions, and system checks within a well-defined operational framework. A foundational understanding of business principles and a commitment to continuous learning within the technical domain are expected.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, prepare site activity schedules, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Possess a team-oriented and collaborative approach, demonstrating outstanding listening skills and the ability to manage through influence.
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) culture and the Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) agenda.
  • Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions, and Processes, adhering to Spirit and Letter compliance rules, and resolve any non-conformances promptly.
  • Build strong relationships with GE Automation (GA) customers and business stakeholders, including National Grid standard & qualification teams, projects and operations teams, contractors, and system integrators.
  • Experience working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is considered an advantage.

Work Environment and Expectations

This full-time position requires working on customer sites, where activities are performed under direct operational supervision and within a structured framework. The role involves significant interaction with customers, serving as a key interface for technical information exchange and relationship building. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and resolve issues efficiently is essential.
