Welding Supervisor

About the Role

Alfanar Projects is seeking a Welding Supervisor to lead field welding operations in Riyadh. This full-time role involves overseeing high-pressure piping, cross-country pipelines, and heavy structural steel installations, ensuring all activities comply with project specifications, international welding codes, and client safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

The Welding Supervisor will manage field crews, coordinate quality control inspections, monitor welder productivity, and resolve technical challenges on site. Key responsibilities include:

• Directing daily field welding operations, including allocating manpower, equipment, and consumables to maintain project timelines.
• Supervising GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and FCAW processes across carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
• Monitoring welder productivity, fit-up accuracy, and joint preparation before final welding.
• Conducting toolbox talks, enforcing site safety protocols, and overseeing compliance with Hot Work Permits and gas-testing procedures.

Quality Control and Technical Compliance

A critical aspect of this role is ensuring stringent quality control and technical adherence to standards. Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and ensuring welders strictly adhere to qualified parameters.
• Verifying Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQR) and organizing field coupon tests for new welders.
• Coordinating with QC inspectors and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) technicians to schedule radiography, ultrasonic, and dye-penetrant testing.
• Identifying weld defects such as porosity, undercut, and lack of penetration, determining root causes, and supervising corrective repairs.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in welding supervision, particularly within the specified operational areas of high-pressure piping, cross-country pipelines, and heavy structural steel installations.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, involving field operations and direct supervision of welding crews on project sites.
