About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking an Armament Technical Instructor to join their team in Dhahran. This full-time position is crucial for delivering effective training solutions covering all aircraft armament systems, including Explosives Storage Area, workshop, and flight line practices. The role supports the customer's needs and the requirements of the Training Systems Institute (TSI).

Company Context

BAE Systems operates as the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under Government-to-Government arrangements, providing equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. The company is responsible for maintaining Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and training RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in the safe use of aircraft, equipment, and weapons. BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capabilities through partnerships and industrialisation.

Key Responsibilities

The Armament Technical Instructor will report to the Senior Specialist Instructor – ON A/C and will be responsible for the following:

  • Directing and leading specialist training functions and conducting specialist training in support of TSI.
  • Ensuring the welfare of students during training activities and monitoring their performance to achieve training objectives.
  • Conducting analysis, design, production, development, and delivery of new and existing training courses, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
  • Researching, writing, and validating advanced training notes.
  • Delivering and supervising practical On-the-Job Training (OJT) and training consolidation.
  • Providing specialist training inputs as a subject matter expert for bidding processes and training proposals.
  • Specifying, designing, and developing appropriate training aids, including computer-aided instruction and advanced desktop training systems.
  • Producing training support materials such as curriculum, training objectives, syllabuses, course plans, and assessment methods.
  • Maintaining and reviewing technical expertise to ensure compatibility with technical advances and evolving needs.
  • Conducting student assessments and evaluations, implementing remedial action as required.
  • Planning, controlling, and delivering assigned courses, and contributing to cross-discipline courses/investigations.
  • Counselling students regarding academic performance or behaviour.
  • Maintaining classroom procedures as published in the TSI, including discipline.
  • Staying informed of subject developments and attending staff development courses as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess the following:

  • A detailed understanding of the design and operation of complex and integrated systems, enabling theoretical and practical applications in training and operational environments (*, teaching detailed maintenance procedures, fault diagnosis, and defect rectification).
  • Ability to operate complex training aids and simulators effectively and safely.
  • Supervisory ability within an operational training environment.
  • Sound business awareness and good interpersonal skills for teaching specialist skills and knowledge across diverse cultures, status, intellect, and technical abilities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and flexible to operate in a complex technical environment with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of internal and external customer requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of relevant analytical techniques.
  • Ability to apply relevant internal and external processes and procedures.
  • Detailed knowledge in the operation and use of IT systems to support relevant systems (computer-aided instruction, desktop publishing, databases, training development software).
  • Well-developed planning and organising skills to meet precise timings required by training programmes.
  • Proficiency in using the TMIS / LMS system to maintain accurate and accessible training records.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, within a training environment focused on supporting the Royal Saudi Air Force and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel.
