About BAE Systems Saudi Arabia and the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia, the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor for providing equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Full-time Engine Maintenance Technician. This role is based in Dhahran and offers a competitive salary. The company supports the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capability.

Role Purpose

The Engine Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the rectification and recovery of the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Tornado fleet to serviceable status. This position plays a critical role in maintaining an active flying program through effective and efficient maintenance and production of RB199 engines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain good engineering practices and ensure compliance with RSAF Technical Orders in all aspects of jet engine work and aircraft maintenance.
  • Perform comprehensive component maintenance, including inspection, surveys, evaluation, installation, repairs, troubleshooting, servicing, overhaul, modification, and on-aircraft system testing.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with the standards and procedures detailed within the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).
  • Implement strict tool control procedures.
  • Manage spare parts requirements using the GOLDesp logistics system.
  • Provide functional guidance to Saudi National Technical Training Program (SNTTP) initiatives regarding engineering issues.
  • Execute Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) and Special Inspections as directed.
  • Conduct visual inspections of engines.
  • Action work orders for unscheduled issues identified during maintenance using the GOLDesp system.
  • Manage and maintain accurate daily work recording diaries.
  • Provide up-to-date briefings and information on daily progress and any issues affecting ongoing maintenance activities to relevant parties.
  • Support and provide input to on-site Rolls Royce personnel for raising Technical Queries (TQs), Defect Data Reports (DDRs), and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure personal authorizations for all conducted maintenance activities remain current.
  • Utilise knowledge and experience in aircraft maintenance, quality assurance, logistical support, and company procedures.
  • Provide Line Technical Support to the RSAF on engineering matters.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience and meet the following criteria:

  • Essential: A recognised qualification to NVQ/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, a technical apprenticeship, or an equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
  • Essential: Substantial post-qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training.
  • Essential: A quality-minded, mature individual with a positive and proactive approach to aircraft maintenance and support issues.
  • Essential: Demonstrated sound oral and written two-way communication skills, with the ability to be tactful, discreet, and confident at all levels.
  • Essential: Ability to work effectively in a mixed workforce (Expatriate/Saudi National).
  • Essential: Ability to work on own initiative to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Essential: Relevant type training (Q Course) and specific training if required.
  • Essential: Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health and safety, and proactive hazard analysis, appropriate to the role.
  • Essential: Successful candidates (Saudi or Expatriate) must obtain and maintain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level prior to commencing employment in KSA.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of company processes and procedures.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of EASA Part 145.
  • Desirable: Broad aerospace and defence company/industry knowledge.
  • Desirable: Understanding of the RSAF 4-1-7166 series and supporting technical publications applicable to the work area.
  • Desirable: First line engine and/or SPS maintenance experience.
