Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Staff Physician, Oncology to join its team in Dhahran. This full-time position is integral to providing high-standard, cost-effective care within Oncology Services to eligible medical recipients, operating under the supervision of an Attending Physician.

Role Overview: Staff Physician, Oncology

The Staff Physician, Oncology will execute duties strictly within the approved Credentials & Privileges granted by the Hospital Credentials & Privileging Committee. This role involves comprehensive patient management across inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and contributing to continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and admit patients from the Emergency Room, outpatient clinics, and transfers, as directed by the Attending Physician.
  • Conduct necessary investigations and admission work-ups.
  • Perform day-to-day patient assessment, planning, and management under Attending Physician supervision.
  • Conduct daily rounds on admitted patients and assigned consults during workdays, and attend to admitted patients through weekends as per service arrangements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide care, including participation in trauma, Code Blue, or rapid response care based on established credentials.
  • Answer inpatient consultations within required timeframes and conduct rounds on related service intensive care unit patients when on-call.
  • Plan and prepare patients for discharge, dictating discharge summaries as appropriate.
  • Attend assigned outpatient medical/surgical and procedural clinics within approved ambulatory Credentials & Privileges.
  • Evaluate patients in the emergency room and perform minor emergency surgical procedures when required.
  • Assist in the operating room when assigned to a particular service/attending surgeon, and perform operative procedures or perioperative anesthetic management within approved privileges (applicable for specific specialties).
  • Ensure legible and timely entries into patients' records, maintaining complete case records and adhering to confidentiality policies.
  • Provide in-house 24-hour call when required, as per the monthly on-call schedule.

Collaboration and Professional Conduct

  • Attend and actively participate in service clinical and educational rounds, including morning reports and sign-out rounds.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary team rounds and service/department Quality and Safety activities, including reviews, audits, and presentations.
  • Report patients' adverse events to the appropriate department/service office.
  • Attend and contribute to service and department business meetings, and participate actively when assigned to a committee.
  • Keep apprised of and adhere to hospital and departmental policies and bylaws.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Ability to perform duties safely and effectively, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining adequate continuous medical education credits as required by hospital and licensing authorities.
  • Must operate within approved Credentials & Privileges provided by the Hospital Credentials & Privileging Committee.

Work Setting and Interactions

The Staff Physician will be in daily contact with hospitalized patients and their families, nurses, other Physicians, and various medical staff. Close collaboration is maintained with Emergency Medical Service physicians, Clinical Medicine Services physicians, Surgical & Diagnostic Services physicians, Radiology Services, and other respective services requesting support.
