About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a Design Manager (PMC) to be based in Al Ula, KSA. This full-time role involves supporting and assisting PMC Senior Project Managers in overseeing Client-appointed Lead Design Consultants (LDC) across various development projects, specifically covering RIBA Stages 1-4. The position requires a structured, systematic, efficient, and disciplined approach, coupled with excellent communication and reporting skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce scope of work services for tender documentation for LDC/Consultancy Services, considering existing Client Framework Agreements and the Project Brief.
• Oversee LDC activities, coordinate designs across various project stages and elements to align with project objectives, and monitor design progress, deliverables, and approvals.
• Manage, document, and coordinate design reviews, auditing designs for compliance with briefs, risk/value analyses, and production of deliverables in accordance with Quality Management and HSE Plans.
• Review design documents to ensure alignment with previously approved versions and to identify unauthorized changes that may impact project time and cost.
• Assist PMC in ensuring LDC Cost Managers collaborate with relevant parties on cost estimates, value engineering, and constructability studies.
• Manage design processes, control planning and scheduling of design, forecast deliverable dates, and monitor design progress to facilitate approvals.
• Oversee LDC compliance with Value Management requirements and implement Value Engineering exercises when instructed.
• Coordinate with the client and LDC to establish routine design workshops and progress meetings, ensuring minutes are produced.
• Assist PMC in ensuring the completeness of Scope of Work for RFP bidding, including the preparation of Contract Documents by the LDC.
• Ensure LDCs issue monthly Design Progress Reports, or be responsible for writing the report if no Lead Design Consultant is appointed.
• Collaborate with the LDC to identify, list, monitor, and eliminate design risks throughout various design stages.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering, or a related field qualification. PMP certification is advantageous.
• Over 10 years of experience in design management, including at least 3 years of PgMC/PMC managerial experience on similar projects (Hospitality, Education & Schools, Culture, Arts, Museums, Mixed Use) at the pre-contract stage.
• In-depth knowledge of various asset types (Mixed-Use), including regulations, best practices, and emerging trends.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in design coordination tools and platforms such as BIM, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders and presenting project updates.
• Exceptional time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and unforeseen challenges.
• A strong commitment to maintaining project safety standards.
