Senior Site Construction Engineer

About the Role

Tractebel is seeking a Senior Site Construction Engineer to join its team in the Al Qassim Region, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time position supports Tractebel's role as the Owner's Engineer for the Al Khushaybi Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Independent Power Project (IPP). The project involves a 500 MW facility with 4 hours of storage duration (2,000MWh) and is being developed by ENGIE and its consortium partners under the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) Battery Energy Storage Program.

Project Context and Impact

As Owner's Engineer, Tractebel provides independent technical oversight and assurance across the project lifecycle. This includes design review, engineering management, technology assessment, construction supervision, testing and commissioning support, and verifying compliance with contractual, regulatory, and international technical standards. This role contributes to the successful delivery of a flagship utility-scale energy storage project in Saudi Arabia, ensuring technical excellence, project quality, safety, reliability, and timely execution. The position supports the integration of large-scale renewable energy into the Kingdom's power system, enhancing grid stability and operational flexibility, and aligning with Saudi Arabia's vision for increased renewable energy penetration.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise construction works to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Monitor quality, progress, and workmanship, and witness inspections and tests.
• Coordinate all Engineer’s site services and disciplines, and interface with EPC and Client teams.
• Ensure site execution aligns with design intent and applicable standards.
• Identify non-conformities, site risks, and delays, and ensure timely escalation.
• Prepare and submit regular site progress and event reports.
• Maintain accurate site records and support milestone achievement and handover.
• Act as the focal point for all site-related matters from the Owner's Engineer side.

Stakeholder Coordination

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating with the Developer, EPC Contractors, OEMs, Grid Operator, SPPC, and other project stakeholders. This coordination ensures that project objectives are achieved in accordance with schedule, budget, and performance requirements, while adhering to international best practices for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
