About the Role

ENGIE Middle East is seeking a Field Operator to join their team in Yanbu, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is designed for candidates with 0-1 year of experience, focusing on the operational control and monitoring of local equipment within a desalination facility. The Field Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring plant operations align with established procedures and dispatch instructions received from the Water Control Centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor local equipment according to established procedures to meet dispatch instructions from the Water Control Centre.
• Perform operation, control, monitoring, and emergency handling of local equipment via local PLC / SCADA systems.
• Execute start-up and shutdown procedures for RO equipment as per standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Coordinate with Shift Engineers and Control Room Operators for Work Permit Isolations related to maintenance activities.
• Collect local data for normalized permeate flow, salt passage, and differential pressure calculations using membrane normalization software.
• Prepare and maintain data necessary for daily and monthly reports.
• Closely monitor the operation of the chemical dosing system.
• Assist in chemical unloading, stock monitoring, and chemical cleaning, flushing, and preservation (CIP) activities as required.
• Actively participate in all operational activities, diagnosis, and troubleshooting within the Desalination Facility.
• Record local data for shift and data reports in compliance with WPA, O&M Agreement, and Company procedures, including routine data in the Shift Log Sheet.
• Perform and monitor equipment changeovers, ensuring the operational readiness of standby equipment.
• Monitor operational parameters of systems and equipment, identify out-of-specification operations, and propose corrective measures.
• Support the O&M Manager and Shift Engineer in preparing Incident Reports, conducting Root Cause Analysis, and recommending corrective actions.

Health, Safety, and Work Environment

The Field Operator is responsible for the safe local operation of the Desalination plant during their shift and must be aware of and adhere to the Engie Yanbu for O&M Company Emergency Response Procedure. This role operates as a Designated Person/Issuer under Company Safety Rules, requiring strict compliance with local legislation and the Engie Yanbu for O&M company HSES Policy and procedures. The position involves working in a controlled hazardous environment, where tasks are classified as Work Level 5 (OSHA scale 1 to 6). These tasks carry inherent risks, which are managed through established procedures, supervision, safety devices, and HSE Teams. Non-observance of these controls could lead to serious accidents or fatalities. Exposure to risks includes traffic/automobile accidents, ergonomic issues, and hazards associated with inspections, site visits, operations, and maintenance activities. The job holder is responsible and accountable for their own safety, the safety of others, and environmental protection, and must report and mitigate unsafe acts/conditions, near misses, and accidents.

Pre-employment Medical Requirements

Candidates for this position will be required to undergo the following medical and laboratory examinations:

• Complete medical physical examination
• Visual acuity examination
• Color blindness test
• PFT (lung capacity)
• Audiometric test

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess 0-1 year of relevant experience in a similar operational role, demonstrating a foundational understanding of industrial equipment operation and monitoring, particularly within a desalination or water treatment context. A strong commitment to health and safety protocols and the ability to work effectively in a controlled hazardous environment are essential.
