Field Engineering Welding

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Field Engineering Welding professional for a full-time position in Saudi Arabia, with operations spanning Taif, Riyadh, and Jeddah. This role involves leading, implementing, and maintaining global construction field welding programs, alongside providing specialized welding engineering support. The successful candidate will manage, inspect, and monitor various aspects of welding operations, including the welding test lab, rod room, weld heat treatment program, and laboratory quality plan. Technical advice will be crucial to ensure that defects and other issues are addressed before final inspection.

Project Overview: Ar Rjum Gold Project

This position supports the Ar Rjum Project, a greenfield gold project located approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh, and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh. The project encompasses three open-pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpiles, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure. This infrastructure includes water and power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and both temporary and permanent accommodation villages.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Bechtel Field Welding program; may be assigned as Lead Field Welding Engineer on large projects.
• Provide specialized welding engineering support to ensure construction adheres to all code, client/engineering specifications, and Bechtel procedures and standards.
• Assist in the management of pre- and post-weld heat treatment programs.
• Manage the issuance of weld filler materials to welders, ensuring compliance with Bechtel and Code requirements.
• Plan NDE activities for welding and coordinate with construction to support the overall construction schedule.
• Monitor welding qualification processes to ensure high-quality welders are tested and hired.
• Maintain welder qualifications and welder stamps.
• Provide assistance to discipline superintendents regarding pre/PWHT welding and NDE.
• Support and maintain the Project Field Welder Testing program.
• Perform inspections and document all welding, NDE, and pre/PWHT activities on an ongoing basis.

Additional Requirements for NDE Level III

• Maintain and implement Bechtel’s Nondestructive Examination Qualification and Certification of NDE personnel (NEPQ).
• Implement Bechtel’s Welding Program in relation to the requirements of various GBUs.
• Prepare, develop, and qualify NDE procedures, including specialized NDE procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in field welding engineering.
• Working knowledge of pre/PWHT (PHT-2) and other welding procedures/standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and implement welding programs on large-scale projects.
• Strong understanding of code, client/engineering specifications, and Bechtel procedures and standards.
