About the Commis Chef Role at Shangri-La Jeddah

Shangri-La Group is seeking a Commis Chef to join its culinary team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is based at the Shangri-La Jeddah, a luxury hotel situated on the new Jeddah Waterfront. The position is open to candidates with 0-1 years of experience, offering an opportunity to contribute to a high-standard kitchen environment within the Makkah region.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The Commis Chef is responsible for maintaining a high standard of food preparation and service across the hotel's kitchens. This role ensures that all culinary operations adhere to the quality standards set by management, contributing to the innovative dining concepts offered at Shangri-La Jeddah.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality service to customers and employees, maintaining a positive attitude and strong team spirit in line with the Shangri-La Philosophy.
• Monitor the freshness, presentation, and temperature of all food served.
• Ensure proper control over food portioning, serving requisitions, and receiving from stores.
• Coordinate detailed restaurant, banquet, and food production tasks with employees under supervision.
• Manage correct timing during service to ensure food is consistently of the highest standards.
• Regularly check the quality of prepared food regarding taste and temperature.
• Ensure a uniform visual appearance for all dishes, with presentation and garnish prepared according to established standards.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• 0-1 years of experience in a culinary role is required.
• Displays curiosity and a commitment to learning new culinary trends.
• Possesses a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Demonstrates initiative and creativity in kitchen operations.
• Preferably has experience working in a luxury restaurant or a five-star hotel environment.
