About Bureau Veritas and the Role

Bureau Veritas, a world leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), is seeking a Senior Instrument Technician to join its team. This contract position is based in the Makkah and Jeddah regions, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services that help clients meet growing challenges in quality, safety, environmental protection, and social responsibility.

Core Instrument Management Responsibilities

The Senior Instrument Technician is primarily responsible for the comprehensive management of analytical instruments, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. Key duties include:

• Operating, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing analytical instruments, with primary responsibility for ICP-MS and ICP-OES systems. Experience with AAS, XRF, and Carbon & Sulphur analyzers is advantageous.
• Performing routine instrument performance checks, calibration verification, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Coordinating with service engineers and technical support teams for maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts requirements, and service interventions.

Laboratory Operations and Compliance

This role also involves supporting daily laboratory operations and ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.

• Supporting analytical testing activities by ensuring instruments are properly configured, calibrated, and operating within performance specifications.
• Monitoring and maintaining adequate inventory levels of consumables, standards, reagents, and critical spare parts required for instrument operation.
• Ensuring testing equipment remains in good working condition and promptly reporting any malfunction, abnormal performance, or equipment damage.
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration status, service reports, instrument performance, and related documentation using approved systems and LIMS.
• Supporting laboratory compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and participating in quality control, equipment verification, proficiency testing, and inter-laboratory comparison programs.

Team Collaboration and Supervisory Support

The Senior Instrument Technician will contribute to team leadership and operational coordination within the laboratory setting.

• Assisting the Laboratory Supervisor in coordinating daily technical activities related to laboratory instrumentation and equipment reliability.
• Performing delegated supervisory responsibilities during the absence of the Laboratory Supervisor when required.
• Carrying out any other duties assigned by the Line Manager or Laboratory Manager.

Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSSE)

Adherence to Bureau Veritas's stringent QHSSE policies and procedures is paramount for this role.

• Complying with BV HSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free workplace and reporting any hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
• Taking responsibility for personal and team health and safety.
• Participating in HSE initiatives, investigations, and risk control measures.
• Cooperating with all safety requirements and promoting a positive safety culture.
• Maintaining high standards of laboratory housekeeping, safety, and good laboratory practices, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste.
• Complying with Bureau Veritas policies relating to Quality, Health & Safety, Ethics, Confidentiality, and Impartiality.

Experience Requirements

Candidates for this Senior Instrument Technician role should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in instrument operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting within a laboratory or industrial setting.
