About the Role

Petromin Corporation is seeking a Senior Architect to join its team in Rabigh, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is a senior owner-side position within NDM, responsible for leading architectural, master planning, and design governance requirements for the Rabigh Special Project.

Role Context and Objectives

The Senior Architect ensures that Petromin’s project objectives, OEM requirements, operational needs, expansion provisions, and cost-efficiency expectations are effectively translated into a coherent and executable master plan. This role serves as Petromin’s architectural interface with consultants and contractors, ensuring design outputs and site execution align with approved requirements. The Senior Architect also supports the GM NDM in cross-functional requirements where architectural, planning, design review, or project development expertise is needed.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, refinement, and progressive freezing of the Owner’s Design Brief and master planning intent for the Rabigh Special Project.
  • Act as Petromin’s architectural and master planning lead in all engagements with appointed consultants, contractors, OEM representatives, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review, challenge, and technically validate master planning deliverables, including site zoning, land-use planning, building envelopes, buffers, circulation, expansion provisions, and functional adjacencies.
  • Ensure architectural and planning outputs align with Petromin’s business requirements, operational needs, future expansion strategy, and approved project objectives.
  • Oversee consultant deliverables to ensure completeness, quality, coordination, and timely submission against project requirements.
  • Oversee contractor compliance with approved architectural designs, layouts, specifications, and design intent during execution.
  • Identify design deviations or execution risks on site and recommend corrective action; any recommendation to suspend works shall be subject to GM NDM approval.
  • Coordinate closely with the Senior Infrastructure Engineer to ensure alignment between building layouts, site infrastructure, utilities corridors, circulation networks, and future expansion requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Controls & Reporting Manager to provide design status, risk inputs, consultant performance updates, and decision-support information for leadership reporting.
  • Lead value engineering and constructability reviews to optimise cost, functionality, phasing, and long-term operational efficiency without compromising Petromin requirements.
  • Maintain structured records of design assumptions, approvals, decisions, consultant submissions, review comments, and key project requirements for traceability.
  • Support cross-functional organisational requirements as directed by GM NDM, including design reviews, planning assessments, and project development support outside Rabigh where required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Mandatory registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers.
  • Registered Architect or equivalent professional membership (preferred).
  • BIM / Design Coordination certifications (advantageous).

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Strong ability to lead and challenge consultants constructively.
  • Ability to translate business and operational requirements into effective planning and design solutions.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination across architecture, infrastructure, and execution teams.
  • High level of ownership and ability to operate effectively in lean project environments.
