Introduction to the Role

Nesma Infrastructure & Technology is seeking a Contracts and Claims Lead to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to supporting the implementation of the company's Contract and Claims Management strategy.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Contracts and Claims Lead will be responsible for leading the preparation, administration, and monitoring of main contract and subcontract agreements. This role ensures proper contractual governance, proactive risk and change management, timely submission of claims and variations, and effective protection of Nesma Infrastructure & Technology’s contractual and financial entitlements. The Lead provides expert advice to project teams, supports dispute avoidance and resolution, and ensures compliance with company contractual procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure contract management activities comply with client objectives, strategies, policies, plans, procedures, and applicable regulations/standards.
• Implement best practices, methodologies, and strategies as required.
• Identify opportunities for improvements and innovations within contract management processes.
• Oversee the proper and timely administration of contracts awarded by the client.
• Manage contractual correspondence, ensuring timely issuance of notices, disputes, claims, and replies to preserve the rights of Nesma Infrastructure & Technology.
• Draft high-quality and professional contractual notices.
• Adopt a proactive approach to risk identification and change management.
• Lead the resolution of disputes and claims, ensuring all contract changes are formalized via variations to preserve company rights.
• Collaborate with clients to ensure thorough and timely contract management practices.
• Work with engineering, technical, and project management teams to ensure proper contract administration, payment certification, variations administration, and claims management.
• Maintain active participation in related professional societies to stay abreast of relevant contractual issues.
• Assign tasks, provide support and guidance to subordinates, and review their work prior to circulation to stakeholders.
• Conduct weekly review meetings with subordinates to monitor task status, change orders, claims, and EOT applications, deciding on further courses of action.
• Act as the focal point of contact for the Contracts & Claims department for all concerned stakeholders.
• Initiate, prepare, review, circulate, and ensure the implementation of relevant manuals by all stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying (QS), or Law.
• A postgraduate qualification in Construction Law is preferred.
• Minimum of 8-13 years of total experience in contracts and claims within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
• Minimum of 5-7 years in a senior or lead role, specifically handling complex contractual and claims matters.

Desired Certifications

• Membership of a recognized professional body such as MRICS, MCIOB, or a relevant engineering/claims institute is desirable but not mandatory.
