About Raytheon and the Research & Development Role

Raytheon (RTX), a global leader in aerospace and defense, is seeking a Research & Development / Mechanical Engineer (Patriot) to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is integral to supporting the sustainment of Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (RSADF) systems, leveraging world-class operations and investments in research and development.

Role Purpose and Focus

The primary objective of this role is to address complex mechanical and hydraulic challenges within RSADF systems. The engineer will be responsible for enhancing maintenance procedures, developing localized repair solutions, and providing expert technical studies and recommendations. This position requires a security clearance from the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and implement solutions for mechanical and hydraulic equipment problems.
• Analyze parts from weaponry systems in workshops or field units to assess local manufacturing feasibility.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles, including calculations, designs, drawings, and documentation, to develop solutions.
• Propose improvements to enhance the effectiveness of maintenance and repair procedures.
• Submit technical study results and recommendations for solutions and procedure applications to the department director.
• Conduct studies and analyses of technical problems across various mechanical and hydraulic fields within Air Defense Forces systems.
• Resolve issues related to repairing mechanical and hydraulic parts in base workshops or field units.
• Evaluate the possibility of modifying or developing sub-systems of the Air Defense Forces' systems.
• Prepare engineering drawings and designs, specifying part specifications for procurement or local manufacturing.
• Provide engineering recommendations and advice on mechanical and hydraulic problems encountered by repair shops or units.
• Develop technical bulletins to prevent and correct errors and improve system performance.
• Offer necessary technical consultations to MTSD workshops.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Director of the Center for Research and Applied Engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant engineering field.
• Demonstrated expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to apply mechanical engineering theories to practical problem-solving.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance from the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces.

Work Environment and Location

This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, supporting critical defense systems. The role involves working within workshops and field units as required to address system sustainment needs.
