Senior Planning Engineer

About the Role

First Western is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to join our team in Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is crucial for managing the project programme for outdoor construction works, encompassing landscape, hardscape, infrastructure, utilities, irrigation, water features, external works, and associated civil and architectural activities.

Role Purpose

The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive development, maintenance, monitoring, and control of project programmes. This position requires strong coordination across various teams to ensure efficient planning, resource optimization, early identification of delays, and effective implementation of corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes for outdoor construction works.
• Monitor and control project progress against established baselines.
• Coordinate effectively with construction, engineering, procurement, commercial, subcontractor, and client/consultant teams.
• Ensure project activities are properly planned and resources are optimized.
• Identify potential delays early and implement corrective actions proactively.

Candidate Profile and Experience

We are looking for candidates with 5-10 years of experience in planning engineering. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked for main contractors or major landscape/infrastructure contractors and have personally managed planning for projects involving multiple outdoor disciplines. The ideal candidate should be comfortable spending significant time on site to verify actual progress and productivity, rather than relying solely on reports.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Demonstrated practical experience in managing a project from baseline planning through execution.
• Proficiency in recovery planning and delay analysis.
• Experience in managing projects through to final completion and handover.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, requiring a hands-on approach with regular site presence to ensure accurate progress monitoring and effective project management.
