About the Role

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu is seeking a Registered Pharmacist to join its Medical Center in Yanbu. This full-time role involves both organizational responsibilities applicable to all staff and specific technical tasks related to pharmacy operations. The position is suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience.

Organizational Responsibilities

• Adhere to RCMC policies and procedures, including dress code, chain of command, and ethical business practices.
• Maintain regulatory compliance with national and JCI regulations.
• Attend annual reviews, perform departmental in-services, and complete annual education requirements.
• Prepare reports and perform other assigned duties as needed by management.
• Maintain positive working relationships with vendors, physicians, and staff.
• Ensure compliance with policies on department operations, fire, safety, and infection control.
• Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital.
• Maintain an excellent attendance record and represent the organization professionally.
• Maintain organizational confidentiality and resolve personnel concerns at the departmental level.
• Report any negative, abnormal, or unexpected events/incidents by submitting an Occurrence Variance Report (OVR) form.

Job-Specific Technical Tasks

• Establish and follow up on the unit dose dispensing system.
• Review patient medication profiles for drug allergies and drug-drug interactions.
• Resolve problems related to the unit dose dispensing system through communication with healthcare providers.
• Monitor medication use in wards and manage drug requisitions and supplies for the unit dose area.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure timely medication delivery to patients.
• Prepare and supervise IV admixtures and total parenteral nutrition preparations, ensuring sterility and cleanliness of mixing areas.
• Compound extemporaneous preparations as requested by physicians, ensuring they are free of drug interactions.
• Dispense prescriptions according to best pharmacy practices, verifying appropriateness with diagnosis and contacting physicians if needed.
• Provide proper patient counseling and store medications under appropriate conditions.
• Charge prescriptions through the system and manage dispensing and inventory of narcotic and controlled drugs.
• Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health regulations and RCMC policies for narcotic and restricted drugs, including monthly inspections and reporting discrepancies.
• Act as an assistant to the inpatient pharmacy supervisor, organizing work in dispensing and IV mixing areas, and deputizing during absence.
• Work in other pharmacy locations as requested and submit monthly and semi-annual reports on narcotic drugs.
• Manage daily inventory for OPD and Inpatient Pharmacy as needed, maintaining adequate stock.
• Update physicians on out-of-stock medications and recommend substitutes.
• Monitor and report possible medication errors, near-misses, and suspected Adverse Drug Reactions.
• Attend pharmacy and other departmental meetings as required.

Experience and Qualifications

• 0-1 years of experience in a relevant pharmacy setting.
• Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with healthcare providers and staff.
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Work Environment

This role is based at the Royal Commission Medical Center in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, and operates on a full-time schedule.
