Lead Engineer

About the Role

Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company (YASREF) is seeking a Lead Engineer to join their team in Yanbu. This full-time role focuses on providing accurate and timely engineering solutions for refinery operations, ensuring compliance with YASREF strategies and operational priorities. The Lead Engineer will act as a subject matter expert for rotating assets and advanced diagnostics to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop engineering strategies to reduce costs, increase asset efficiency, and improve productivity, focusing on continuous improvement.
• Design and develop engineering solutions to optimize plant assets and ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Provide timely contributions to engineering projects, including new installations, upgrades, and expansions, coordinating with stakeholders.
• Deliver engineering solutions to maintain plant assets throughout their life cycle and provide technical support to OME teams.
• Conduct evaluations and prepare design modifications as approved by the change management system or project management team.
• Make frequent plant visits to discuss operational issues with OME teams for resolution, upgrading, maintenance, and improvement of equipment performance.
• Participate in troubleshooting meetings for equipment and system failures, and other process abnormalities.
• Conduct research on equipment, processes, and systems to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and abnormalities.
• Investigate equipment and system failures, identify root causes, and provide recommendations to prevent future incidents.
• Lead and execute complex maintenance, repair, and major overhauls of critical rotating equipment (*, compressors, pumps, turbines).
• Utilize advanced analytical skills to troubleshoot chronic machinery issues and lead formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
• Oversee the refinery’s vibration monitoring and machinery diagnostic programs.
• Provide high-level engineering and technical support to operations and maintenance teams during routine operations, turnarounds, and emergency breakdowns.
• Ensure all repair procedures and equipment modifications comply with international standards (API, ASME, ISO) and internal safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of critical refinery machinery.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience as a subject matter expert (SME) for rotating assets, advanced diagnostics, vibration analysis, and root cause analysis (RCA).
• Ability to guide the development and update of engineering standards, procedures, and objectives.
• Capable of supporting Operation and Maintenance during planned, emergency shutdowns, or disasters, providing technical assistance.
• Proficiency in guiding the preparation of engineering designs, studies, documents, calculations, and technical bulletins.
• Experience in conducting engineering studies to improve plant integrity and reduce costs.
• Ability to provide technical support to improve asset maintenance strategies, including preventive/predictive maintenance task lists.
• Skill in evaluating engineering proposals to ensure compliance with YASREF standards and business priorities (HSE, reliability, profitability).
• Full comprehension and adherence to relevant safety and environmental policies as per YASREF Standards.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Yanbu, focusing on ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of refinery assets. The role involves collaboration with various operational and maintenance teams, requiring frequent plant visits and participation in troubleshooting meetings.
