Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer

About the Role

KBR Saudi Arabia is seeking a Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer to join their team in Al Khobar. This full-time role requires a seasoned mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the design and specification of rotating equipment within the oil & gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and/or infrastructure industries. The position involves leading engineering efforts for medium to large-scale projects, encompassing both FEED and detailed engineering phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of up to 10 mechanical engineers and designers.
• Develop and manage the discipline work plan.
• Review and check equipment data sheets and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Perform technical studies, including compressor configuration studies, driver selection, life cycle cost analyses, specialty equipment configuration studies, material handling studies, and RAM studies.
• Evaluate technical bids from vendors.
• Conduct packaged equipment reviews.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on rotating equipment to the project team and clients.
• Ensure the design integrity of the mechanical scope, manage the performance of assigned staff, and deliver work on schedule and within budget.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience as a Principal Mechanical Engineer.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and specification of rotating equipment.
• Expertise with equipment such as pumps, compressors, seals, and various specialty and utility equipment.
• Experience in the oil & gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and/or infrastructure industries.
• Demonstrated experience in both Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed engineering for medium to large-scale projects.

Key Interactions and Collaboration

This role requires a broad understanding of activities across various engineering disciplines. The Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer will regularly interact with project management teams and client representatives, ensuring effective communication and alignment throughout project lifecycles.
