About the Role

Albawani (البواني) is seeking a BIM Engineer Civil & Infrastructure to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to supporting civil and infrastructure BIM processes across various project phases, from initial design to final digital handover. The role requires an engineering-based BIM professional, not solely a drafting profile, capable of comprehensive BIM production, coordination, and technical support.

Role Purpose and Context

The Civil / Infrastructure BIM Engineer will support the development, coordination, review, and management of civil and infrastructure BIM models and related digital deliverables. This encompasses design development, IFC readiness, shop drawing production, construction coordination, site logistics, as-built development, AIM preparation, and digital handover. Working under the guidance of the BIM Manager and in close collaboration with the Technical Engineering Team, the engineer will ensure that all civil and infrastructure BIM information is accurate, coordinated, technically aligned, constructible, properly documented, and compliant with project BIM Execution Plans, Model Development Standards, and QA/QC procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain civil/infrastructure BIM models in accordance with approved project BIM requirements, standards, and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows.
  • Model and manage civil/infrastructure elements including roads, pavements, kerbs, grading, earthworks, utility corridors, stormwater drainage, sewerage, water supply, and related site infrastructure components.
  • Prepare civil/infrastructure model views, plans, profiles, sections, and model-based drawing outputs using Civil 3D, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Ensure model information is accurate, coordinated, structured, and suitable for design coordination, shop drawing production, construction support, quantity take-off, 4D/5D readiness, and handover.
  • Support multidisciplinary BIM coordination, review federated models, and identify civil/infrastructure coordination issues, clashes, and constructability risks.
  • Facilitate clash detection, issue review, and resolution using approved coordination platforms, and actively participate in coordination meetings.
  • Support civil/infrastructure shop drawing production from coordinated BIM models and approved IFC design information, ensuring alignment with all relevant package requirements.
  • Assist in preparing BIM inputs for RFIs and Technical Queries (TQs), and support construction documentation and package readiness.
  • Support progressive as-built BIM updates by incorporating verified redlines, site mark-ups, approved changes, and survey inputs.
  • Provide BIM-based technical support for site queries, constructability reviews, and discrepancy identification, highlighting issues to the BIM Manager and Technical Engineering Team.
  • Support 4D/5D readiness by providing model data for quantity extraction, CBS mapping, construction sequencing, and progress monitoring.
  • Prepare high-quality visual outputs for presentations, including sequencing visuals, site logistics graphics, and infrastructure coordination images using relevant visualization tools.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a BIM engineering role, specifically within civil and infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated capability in civil/infrastructure BIM production, model information quality, technical coordination, clash resolution, and constructability review.
  • Proficiency in BIM software including Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and coordination platforms such as ACC Model Coordination / BIM Collaborate.
  • Ability to support QTO / 4D / 5D readiness, infrastructure asset information, and project digital delivery workflows.

Technical Expertise and Tools

The role requires strong technical proficiency in BIM software and workflows relevant to civil and infrastructure projects. This includes expertise in Civil 3D, Revit, and Navisworks for model development and coordination. Candidates should be adept at using coordination platforms like ACC Model Coordination / BIM Collaborate and BCF for clash detection and issue resolution. Familiarity with visualization tools such as InfraWorks, Lumion, Enscape, or Twinmotion for preparing high-quality visual outputs is beneficial.

Standards, Training, and Continuous Improvement

The successful candidate will develop and apply knowledge of BIM standards, civil/infrastructure workflows, and coordination processes. This includes supporting basic BIM training, onboarding, and knowledge sharing within project teams. The role also involves promoting the effective use of BIM tools, supporting the implementation of BIM best practices and project standards, and contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives, including workflow enhancements with tools like Dynamo scripts or Power BI inputs where applicable.
