About the Role

Adesso GCC is seeking a Database Administrator to join its fast-paced and self-accountable team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on delivering enterprise-level products for local and global markets. The Database Administrator is responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing database systems, ensuring their reliability, integrity, and availability. The position involves implementing efficient backup and recovery strategies and monitoring performance to support smooth operations across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
• Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies.
• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server environments.
• Manage database security, user access, and compliance.
• Troubleshoot and optimize performance issues, including queries, indexing, and servers.
• Perform patching and upgrades for database systems.
• Configure high availability solutions such as Always On, replication, and clustering.
• Continuously tune performance and resource utilization.
• Automate database operations, including backup, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Provision and manage databases within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Configure and maintain Data Guard setups in OCI.
• Configure and maintain backup policies and automated backup processes in OCI.
• Configure and maintain auto-scaling and storage management in OCI.
• Monitor database environments using OCI Monitoring, Alarms, logging, and diagnostic tools.
• Manage database lifecycle operations via OCI Console, CLI, and APIs.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on SQL Server.
• Experience with MongoDB is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) database services.
• Proven experience in performance tuning and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
• Experience managing databases in cloud environments, including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling.
• Hands-on experience with SSMS or similar database management tools.
• Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator or similar certifications are preferred.
• OCI certifications are considered a plus.

Technical Expertise

• SQL Technologies: SQL Server, T-SQL, SSMS, Always On, replication, clustering.
• MongoDB: Atlas, replica sets, sharding, backup/restore.
• Cloud (OCI): Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) database services, Data Guard, monitoring & lifecycle management.
• Monitoring Tools: SQL Profiler, SolarWinds, MMS, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.
• Backup Tools: SQL Server Backup, MongoDB Backup, Veeam, or similar.
• Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
• Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux.
