About the Role

The Red Sea Landscape Nursery is seeking a Director - Production to lead plant production at Botanica Red Sea. This full-time role, based in Riyadh, involves managing the growth and supply of plant material from the 180-hectare nursery, which has an annual production capacity of 8 million plants. The Director will oversee propagation, greenhouses, shade houses, flower and indoor plant production, the seed bank, and the native species program, while also leading R&D and biosecurity efforts.

Role Context and Objectives

This position is accountable for plant quality, availability, biosecurity, safety, and production costs. The Director ensures supply to the Commercial department at the assumed cost for both internal Red Sea Global (RSG) clients and external developments. The role requires joint planning with Nursery Operations for water, soil, logistics, and equipment, with key risks including plant losses from pests, disease, heat, biosecurity incursions, and changes in demand forecasts.

Key Responsibilities

Translate demand plans into production, import, and growing plans, achieving production volumes, plant readiness dates, germination, and survival targets.
Manage live plant inventory and review plant Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for projects, confirming availability and lead times.
Lead plant propagation, greenhouse and shade house operations, flower and food production, indoor plants, and the seed bank.
Grow the native plant program and apply crop management practices to maximize quality and minimize losses.
Own the Biosecurity Protocol, including inspection of incoming material, phytosanitary documentation, quarantine, and traceability.
Lead the integrated pest and disease management (IPM) program and the R&D roadmap, ensuring compliance with MEWA requirements.
Manage the direct cost budget for nursery production and R&D, controlling labor, materials, water, fuel, equipment, and wastage.
Plan manpower, equipment, and materials, reporting utilization and productivity, and identifying cost and delivery risks.
Lead managers, supervisors, horticulturists, and operatives, driving competency and training standards.
Ensure zero-harm field operations, including permits, method statements, toolbox talks, PPE, and incident reporting.
Follow and enforce all relevant Botanica and RSG Group policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
Apply and champion the safety, quality, and environmental management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and the compliance management system (ISO 37301).
Identify and lead opportunities for continuous improvement in department systems, processes, and practices.

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in plant production and nursery management.
