Electrical Engineer

About the Role

El Seif Operation and Maintenance (ESOM) is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Facilities Management. This full-time role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and involves supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of electrical systems within various building and facility environments. The successful candidate will provide on-site technical expertise and supervise electrical maintenance activities.

Role Responsibilities

• Supervise and execute preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical equipment, circuitry, and power distribution systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain LV switchgear, distribution boards, control systems, and associated electrical equipment.
• Oversee activities related to MV switchgear and electrical distribution systems, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and safety requirements.
• Diagnose electrical faults and implement technical solutions to minimize downtime and restore system operation.
• Support the installation, modification, replacement, and commissioning of electrical equipment, including panels, circuit breakers, switchgear, lighting systems, and protection devices.
• Monitor and maintain UPS systems, standby generators, and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) to ensure power continuity.
• Support electrical redundancy and contingency planning for critical facility operations.
• Review electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, and related engineering documentation.
• Utilize AutoCAD and other engineering tools for modifications, upgrades, and documentation of electrical systems.
• Perform or support electrical load calculations, equipment selection, system assessments, and protection requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians, project teams, and contractors on electrical maintenance and engineering activities.
• Provide technical guidance to electrical technicians during maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
• Support the integration of electrical systems with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) where applicable.
• Ensure all electrical activities adhere to applicable safety requirements, engineering standards, project procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify electrical hazards, support risk assessments, and implement appropriate mitigation and electrical safety measures.
• Support the management of critical electrical spare parts and consumables.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, operating procedures, and engineering documentation.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for electrical equipment and systems.
• Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to technicians and relevant operational employees.
• Participate in inspections, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Experience and Skills

• 5-10 years of practical experience in facility electrical systems.
• Strong experience with LV and MV distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, standby generators, and ATS systems.
• Proficiency in preventive maintenance and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to take ownership of electrical issues and support technicians on site.
• Capability to coordinate with operational teams and maintain reliable electrical infrastructure within a facilities management environment.

Work Environment

This role involves working across various operational and facility environments. Tasks may include working at heights and in confined spaces, as well as in indoor and outdoor settings under varying temperatures. Site inspections and field troubleshooting are regular components of the job. Compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and all applicable health and safety procedures is mandatory.
