The Role of ETL Engineer

Exequt is seeking an ETL Engineer to build and maintain data pipelines for analytics and data platform initiatives. This full-time position, based in Riyadh, involves end-to-end ownership of ETL workflows, from extraction strategy to transformation logic, monitoring, and optimization within a big data stack. The role requires collaboration with business teams to translate requirements into functional pipelines and includes delivery on international projects, particularly in Saudi Arabia. English will be the primary working language for documentation, progress updates, and client-facing solution presentations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, optimize, and maintain the full ETL lifecycle.
• Define data extraction strategies, cleansing rules, and transformation logic based on business requirements.
• Write complex SQL for querying, statistical analysis, and query optimization to enhance processing efficiency.
• Build and automate ETL workflows using Python, Java, and Shell scripting.
• Contribute to the design, modeling, and maintenance of Hive-based data warehouses, applying layering concepts (ODS, DWD, DWS, ADS) and optimizing storage structures.
• Integrate and maintain Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and related big data technologies within ETL workflows.
• Monitor ETL jobs, configure alerts, troubleshoot failures, and resolve data latency and consistency issues.
• Establish and continuously improve ETL operations and maintenance standards.
• Partner with business teams on requirement analysis, solution design, implementation, data validation, and data quality initiatives.
• Stay current with new tools and techniques and integrate them into the pipeline.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field. The role requires proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, and Shell scripting, along with experience in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Hive.
