Bechtel Corporation has a long-standing history since 1898, having successfully completed over 25,000 projects in 160 countries. The company focuses on delivering successful outcomes across various markets, including Infrastructure; Nuclear, Security & Environmental; Energy; Mining & Metals; and Manufacturing and Technology. Bechtel is currently undertaking the Ar Rjum Project, a greenfield gold project situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh. This project involves three open pit mining operations, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and comprehensive supporting infrastructure, including water and power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and accommodation villages.

Role Summary: Field Engineering CSA

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Field Engineering CSA, specifically a Civil/Earthworks Field Engineer, for the Ar Rjum Project. This full-time position is responsible for construction engineering tasks and activities within the Civil discipline, encompassing concrete, structural steel, excavation/backfill, scaffolding, and architectural finishes, all while utilizing relevant codes and standards. The role involves developing work plans, coordinating materials, performing and documenting inspections, ensuring safety and quality control, reporting progress, and resolving design and construction conflicts from commodity installation and testing through to turnover for Startup/Commissioning. This position requires strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to perform detailed inspections, and the capacity to produce accurate, clear, and concise documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues related to commodity installations and work sequencing.
Provide field engineering support and assistance to superintendents, aiding personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifying materials, equipment, and quality, and ensuring results meet design requirements.
Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction concerning the installation and testing of civil commodities.
Perform Civil Field Engineering activities, including inspections, audits, and planning to support the installation of formwork, rebar, concrete, structural steel, architectural, and earthwork, and execute rigging support and planning for material and equipment.
Ensure procedural compliance, material control, and complete and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work.
Direct or perform the preparation of quantity listings for field-purchased material and equipment, initiating requisitions for field material purchases.
Support the preparation of construction drawings and schedules, design of temporary construction facilities, and ensure the preparation of as-built drawings and other job plans.
Support the planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, ensuring proper warehousing and storage for environmental protection.
Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on site.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related subject from an accredited university, coupled with 10 years of progressive construction or civil engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, 15 years of relevant experience in the MENA region with a sound understanding of its cultural norms and requirements is acceptable.
Physical ability to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may require extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders and scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player mindset, and a knowledge-sharing approach.
Ability to solve problems through lateral thinking and understand the needs and requirements of the client and other entities to provide technical compliance and training.
Capability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and manage challenging multi-cultural relationships.
Self-driven and able to plan and execute work without direct supervision from senior management and/or peers.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Thorough knowledge of all phases of engineering, design, construction, and field activities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Design Suite software programs, with the ability to prepare reports and experience in 3D and 4D modeling software.
Knowledge and application of the Zero Accident Safety Philosophy.
Broad knowledge of Construction Standard Work Process Procedures.
Thorough knowledge of current industry standards.
Broad knowledge of the requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan, and the Bechtel Core Processes relevant to the area of responsibility.
Knowledge of company and project quality policies.
