About the Geospatial Data Standards Manager Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Geospatial Data Standards Manager to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves developing and maintaining geospatial data standards to ensure interoperability, consistency, and accuracy. The role is crucial for upholding data quality control procedures throughout the collection, analysis, and dissemination of geospatial data, supporting military operations and decision-making.

Role Context and Purpose

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia operates under Government-to-Government arrangements, providing equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia, including maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and training for RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel. This role directly contributes to the Saudi Arabian National Agenda by ensuring the quality and standardization of geospatial data used in critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive geospatial data standards.
  • Provide guidance on metadata creation, management, data quality control, and data normalization.
  • Ensure adherence to established geospatial standards and protocols.
  • Analyze geospatial data to support military operations and strategic decision-making.
  • Offer technical support for geospatial data management and visualization.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of geospatial data standards, policies, and relevant regulations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Geospatial Information or a related field.
  • Possession of ISO geospatial data standards certifications, including ISO 19100 and ISO 9001, is essential.
  • Geospatial Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) certification from the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) or a comparable organization.
  • Extensive proven experience in geospatial data management or data quality control roles.
  • Proficiency with GIS software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of geospatial data standards and policies, including NSG, ISO, IHO, DGWIG, NATO (STANAG), OGC, W3C, and SDO.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical skills in metadata creation, management, and normalization.
  • Robust analytical skills for interpreting geospatial data and information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and customers.
