About Solventum and the Opportunity

We are seeking an International CDI/Coding Consultant to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a full-time role requiring 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The CDI/Coding Consulting Specialist is responsible for conducting reviews of clinical documentation to ensure its completeness, accuracy, and compliance with coding and regulatory standards. The primary goal is to support accurate code and Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) assignments. As part of Solventum's international CDI consulting team, this role involves conducting chart reviews for hospitals and transferring knowledge to various client CDI teams to strengthen their documentation practices and long-term program effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct retrospective chart reviews (inpatient and/or outpatient) to assess the accuracy, completeness, and specificity of clinical documentation.
  • Apply knowledge of ICD-10 code sets, procedure code sets, and DRG classification systems to identify documentation and coding gaps.
  • Utilize medical terminology and review procedures to assess clinical documentation improvement opportunities.
  • Shadow physicians, coders, and CDI staff to understand current workflows and documentation practices.
  • Interview key stakeholders (*, CDI team, coding team, clinicians, department heads) to gather insights into existing documentation challenges.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of hospital CDI processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop structured queries and provide feedback where clarification or additional documentation is needed.
  • Compile audit findings into clear, actionable reports, including identified gaps, risks, and recommendations.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to educate client teams on best practices in documentation and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to ensure consistency and quality across project engagements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and data security when handling patient records and hospital information.
  • Participate in aggregating data trends and audit findings to prepare management and executive-level summation reports.
  • Attend meetings with key stakeholders to review findings and discuss recommendations.

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates for this role should possess 5-10 years of experience in clinical documentation improvement or medical coding. Essential skills include a strong understanding of ICD-10 code sets, procedure code sets, and DRG classification systems, along with proficiency in medical terminology and clinical review processes. The ability to conduct detailed chart reviews, analyze documentation gaps, and provide effective knowledge transfer is critical. Experience in stakeholder engagement and report compilation is also required.

Work Environment and Travel

This is a remote position that requires significant international travel. The role involves travel to different countries and global clients within Solventum International markets, with travel potentially ranging from 50% to 75% of the time. Occasional travel to the Riyadh office may also be required. A valid passport is essential for this role. Relocation assistance is not provided.
