About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves leading and coordinating the activities of Laboratory Technicians and Assistants, while also performing a diverse range of laboratory testing and related tasks. The role requires operating automated testing equipment and executing routine procedural steps essential for patient disease diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and resolve issues related to specimen processes and the activities of Laboratory Technicians and Assistants.
  • Receive, sort, accession, and process laboratory specimens using both manual and automated methods.
  • Communicate with phlebotomists, nurses, and doctors to resolve specimen-related concerns.
  • View activity orders and print collection and aliquot labels.
  • Perform procedural steps for less complex laboratory testing to obtain results for patient diagnosis.
  • Operate automated testing and diagnostic equipment in adherence to established procedures.
  • Prepare specimens for observation and analysis by other laboratory staff.
  • Identify, label, and file all specimens designated for retention and future reference.
  • Assist in the training of new laboratory technicians and trainees.
  • Manage inventory and submit biweekly requests for laboratory supplies.
  • Collaborate with senior staff and supervisors to arrange monthly staff schedules.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree/Diploma in Medical or Laboratory Technology, or a related discipline.
  • For Grade 07: One (1) year of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or two (2) years with an Associate Degree/Diploma.
  • For Grade 08: Four (4) years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, or equivalent Grade 07 related experience.

Specific Requirements for Grade 08

  • An average annual performance appraisal of at least for the last four (4) years.
  • Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education (CME).

Essential Skills and Certifications

  • Current Registration from the country of origin and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic for both verbal and written communication.
  • For non-Saudi candidates, completion of approved accreditation according to the country of origin is required.

Adherence to Standards

The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform all duties in strict accordance with standards established by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and the College of American Pathologists (CAP), ensuring the highest level of quality and patient safety.
