MEP Technical Director

About the Role

Migrate is seeking an MEP Technical Director to lead and supervise design and engineering activities for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm, and HVAC systems. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and involves working across diverse facilities including residential, commercial, industrial, and healthcare projects. The role ensures technically sound, coordinated, and code-compliant design deliverables while managing the design team and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the design and development of MEP systems for Design & Build projects across various facility types.
• Design and review mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm, Plumbing, and Electrical systems.
• Prepare concept design drawings and supervise the development of shop drawings for awarded projects.
• Ensure accuracy, constructability, and technical quality of all designs and engineering deliverables.
• Apply value engineering principles to optimize designs while maintaining quality, functionality, safety, and compliance with local codes, regulations, and international standards (*, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA).
• Manage and coordinate the development, review, and progress of all MEP design activities, ensuring proper coordination across disciplines.
• Review design drawings, technical documents, equipment specifications, and material submittals for approval.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on approved designs and provide technical information to relevant divisions.
• Prepare approval requests for project systems, equipment, and materials, and follow up with consultants/owners.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to the MEP Design team, monitoring performance and ensuring adherence to company standards.
• Manage technical engineering processes to ensure successful project delivery according to client requirements, specifications, and schedules.

Technical Review and Quality Control

• Review construction documents, including BOQs, drawings, technical specifications, and equipment documentation.
• Ensure all MEP works and deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
• Maintain high technical and quality standards throughout the design and documentation process.
• Identify and resolve design issues, coordination conflicts, and technical risks in a timely manner.

Coordination and Project Support

• Coordinate with Project Managers, Operations, Procurement, Cost Control, consultants, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
• Conduct site inspections to verify design implementation and identify technical or coordination issues.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and site conditions to provide appropriate technical recommendations.
• Support project teams with technical input related to quantities, materials, equipment, and design changes.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in MEP design and engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising design teams.
• Strong understanding of local and international codes and standards relevant to MEP systems.
• Proficiency in design software and tools relevant to MEP engineering.
