The Role of Senior Construction Engineer

OSUS is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer to oversee and manage commercial and residential construction projects in Riyadh, with a primary focus on housing developments. This full-time role involves leading multi-disciplinary teams and supervising construction activities. The Senior Construction Engineer is responsible for ensuring all works are executed in strict accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and Saudi codes and standards, while upholding the highest levels of quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor work execution in adherence to drawing specifications and the Bill of Quantities.
• Sequence construction operations effectively based on scope, cost, and time constraints.
• Coordinate with various disciplines to ensure smooth project progress.
• Attend site and coordination meetings to discuss project progress and maintain schedule adherence.
• Review materials delivered to the site for conformance with approved samples, materials, and equipment.
• Manage and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports.
• Apply best practice solutions to resolve technical problems encountered on site.
• Promote environmental compliance and enforce safety regulations, ensuring staff adhere to health and safety guidelines.
• Oversee start-up work, testing, commissioning, and the final handover of projects.
• Apply closing requirements as stipulated by the approved contract and specifications.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
• 7-9 years of relevant experience in construction.
• Demonstrated experience in civil design, drafting, or construction documentation.
• Proven expertise in civil engineering design, project management, and construction methodologies.
• Strong technical understanding of design development, construction supervision, and project documentation.

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Good knowledge of planning software and scheduling.
• Proficiency in reading and reviewing contract documents.
• Strong understanding of local codes, regulations, and standards applicable to civil works in Saudi Arabia.
• Proficiency in engineering software, including but not limited to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other related design applications.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Experience in mentoring and developing engineering talent.
• Ability to simplify and clearly explain complex technical engineering concepts.
• Strong organizational skills and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Excellent project management and leadership skills.
• Commitment to ensuring adherence to safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within all engineering projects.
