About the Role

Hala is a prominent fintech company operating in the MENAP region, focused on transforming financial services and developing the future banking platform for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to ensure the reliability, availability, performance, and scalability of our infrastructure and applications. This role is essential for automating operations, managing cloud and Kubernetes environments, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, monitoring system health, and resolving production issues. The SRE will collaborate closely with development teams to build resilient, secure, and efficient platforms that support continuous delivery and contribute to business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the cloud environment by monitoring availability and assessing overall system health.
• Develop software and systems for managing platform infrastructure and applications.
• Enhance the reliability, quality, and time-to-market of the company's software solutions.
• Measure and optimize system performance, focusing on capability advancement, anticipating customer needs, and driving continuous improvement.
• Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications.
• Analyze metrics from operating systems and applications to support performance tuning and fault identification.
• Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
• Participate in system design consultations, platform management, and capacity planning.
• Create sustainable systems and services through automation and system enhancements.
• Balance feature development speed and reliability with defined service level objectives.
• Deploy updates and fixes to production environments.
• Build tools to reduce error occurrences and improve customer experience.
• Perform root cause analysis for production errors.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues affecting system performance and availability.
• Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, such as Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Infrastructure Engineer.
• Advanced knowledge of compliance and regulations pertinent to the fintech industry.
• Proven experience with Kubernetes administration.
• Experience utilizing infrastructure as code tools, including Terraform and Ansible.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI.
• Experience in architecting, developing, and troubleshooting large-scale systems.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines, with a preference for GitOps methodologies.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Loki, Jaeger, and Sentry.
• Experience managing databases, including backup and restore strategies, replication, and clustering, with specific knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Solid networking knowledge, preferably with experience in VPNs and Service Mesh technologies.
